HILLSBORO – Hillsboro's Brekyn Ratzlaff converted the game-winning free throws with one second left in overtime as the Trojans crushed Hoisington's Central Kansas League title hopes 64-62. The game appeared headed to a second overtime when the Cardinals were whistled for a foul.

Hoisington (14-3, 5-2 CKL) was led by Mason Haxton with 23 points and Drew Nicholson added 15 points. Hillsboro's Matthew Potucek scored 19 points and Ratzlaff added 15 points for the Trojans (10-8, 4-3 CKL).

HESSTON – A last-second prayer wasn't answered as Larned's Brock Skelton saw his game-winning field goal spin in, then out as CKL leader Hesston outlasted the Indians 46-45 in a Central Kansas League battle.

Hesston (17-1, 6-1) scored the game-winner on Cason Richardson's free throw for a 46-45 lead. Larned created a good scoring opportunity that just missed.

Larned (13-4, 4-3) fell from CKL title contention as Chance Sanger scored 14 points and Skelton added 12 points. Hesston's Richardson scored 11 points and Ben Bollinger added eight points.

OTIS – Macksville's Rogelio Ibarra was on fire with eight 3-pointers for 26 points in a 76-53 Central Prairie League victory over Otis-Bison. Ryan Kuckelman added 14 points and 12 rebounds. Alexis Barron contributed 15 points, five assists and four steals. Macksville made 14 of 25 3-pointers.

Ellinwood (9-9) was paced by Mya Maxwell with 10 points and Brittney Simpson with nine points. Daphne Doll hauled down 15 rebounds and Mary Dimitt had 12 rebounds.

ST. JOHN –St. John's balance keyed a 48-43 non-league basketball victory over South Central Tuesday. Tanner Halling (16), Marshall Woolf (14) and Joel Ortiz (13) scored in double figures to rescue the red-hot Tigers.  

St. John (16-3) owns the top seed at the 1A basketball regional. Tanner Halling grabbed 12 rebounds. Trey Fisher passed out four assists. South Central's Xavier Frazier muscled for 20 points and 11 rebounds.

CLAFLIN – The Central Plains Oilers' winning streak has hit 130 games. The Oilers roared past Ness City 97-15 to celebrate Senior Night Tuesday. The Oilers set a state record with 74.5 percent shooting on 44 of 59 field goals. The Oilers ran out the final six minutes to prevent a 100-point outing.

All-stater Emily Ryan celebrated her final regular-season home game with a season high 44 points, 13 assists and nine steals. Delaney Rugan scored 14 points and Kassidy Nixon and Brynna Hammeke added eight apiece.
