DODGE CITY — Great Bend’s Corrigan Bartlett rallied the Bat Cats with five hits and four RBIs for a 16-12 comeback Jayhawk League baseball victory over the Dodge City A’s.
The Bat Cats (9-12) trailed 7-5 after five innings before outscoring the A’s 11-5. The Bat Cats play Dodge City (13-7) at home Thursday complete the three-game series. The Bat Cats are 3-7 on the road and 3-10 against the top four teams in the Jayhawk League.
Bartlett, Hunter Romero and Jordan Wilkerson homered as the Bat Cats delivered eight extra-base hits and 19 hits in the hitter-friendly Cavalier Field. Romero, Wilkerson and Brennan Fontenot each drove in three runs.
Alejandrio Trejo earned the victory after the Bat Cats scored seven runs in the seventh inning. Dawson Pomeroy yielded one earned run in three innings to earn a save.
Wilkerson singled home Ben Sems and Bartlett in a two-run first inning. Payton Barnes tripled home Brandon Bachar and Bartlett singled home Barnes in a two-run second inning. Wilkerson’s fifth-inning single scored Bartlett.
Bartlett’s three-run sixth-inning homer off Billips scored Fontenot and Bachar for an 8-7 lead.
Dodge City’s Kaimana Sova-Paaluhi hit a three-run homer for a 10-8 Dodge City lead.
Fontenot ignited a seven-run seventh with a three-run homer off Hunter Shaw that scored Taylor Langston and Pomeroy for an 11-10 lead. Romero’s three-run triple scored Bachar, Barnes and Bartlett for a 14-10 lead. Romero scored on a wild pitch. Bachar’s eighth-inning homer added an insurance run.
