DERBY – The Great Bend Bat Cats are perfect in the Jayhawk League – and not in a good way.
The Derby Twins buried Great Bend 15-7 Tuesday to drop the Bat Cats to 0-5 in the Jayhawk League. Derby led 15-0 and scored nine unearned runs.
The Bat Cats scored the final seven runs. Brendan Madsen singled home McKay Banks in the sixth inning. Chris Swanberg scored on a seventh-inning passed ball. Thomas Alexander’s single scored Scott Gerardy.
Swanberg’s eighth-inning single Madsen to start a four-run eighth inning. Reece Johnson scored on a wild pitch. Austin McNicholas singled home Swanberg and G. Johnson.
Derby’s Braxton Wehrle homered and Houston Parker delivered an RBI single for a 3-0 lead after one inning. Parker’s double scored Aaron Beaulaurier in the third inning.
Jace Snodgrass homered to spark a five-run fourth inning. Brent Herbert, Beaulaurier and Parker delivered RBIs. Derby scored six fifth-inning runs. Zach Smith, Wes Anderson, Marquis Paige and Snodgrass drove home runs for a 15-0 lead.
