CHENEY – The Great Bend Bat Cats lived up to their baseball nickname.

It was truly a team effort.

The Bat Cats buried the Sunflower Seeds 23-8 in Thursday’s Sunflower Collegiate League baseball game. The Bat Cats (6-6, 5-4 Sunflower) return home Friday and Sunday to play the Sunflower Seeds.

Thirteen Bat Cats contributed a hit, run or run batted in. Supersub Ben Brown drilled a three-run homer and drove home four runs. Seth Kenagy, Tyler Henry and Trent Touchet each drove home three runs. Great Bend native Brady Michel, Mitch Carnahan and Jake Baker each drove home two runs. Baker ripped a seventh-inning homer.

Henry delivered a pair of doubles and Collin Meinert and Baker each doubled. Kenagy drilled a two-run triple. Meinert and Henry each delivered three hits.

The Bat Cats scored seven runs in the sixth inning and rallied for five runs in the seventh inning against the pitching poor Seeds.
