The Bat Cats magic is officially back. $1 beer night was a success again at Al Burns Field.
Great Bend's Brady Michel scored on a seventh-inning wild pitch for the game-winning run in a 4-3 victory over the Hutchinson Monarchs Thursday. Michel singled home Hunter Romero and advanced to third base on a groundball and an error off pitcher Zach Philbern.
The Bat Cats (7-5) travel to Hutchinson (8-5) Friday for a rematch at Hobart-Detter Field. Relief pitcher Easton Young struck out six batters in three innings to earn the victory.
Hutchinson led 1-0 when Jackson Loftin scored on a second-inning wild pitch. Scott Wolverton scored on a groundball and Colton Cowser singled home Brayden Whitechurch for a 3-0 lead after 41/2 innings.
Michel singled home Chandler Bloomer in the fifth inning. Dawson Pomeroy homered in the sixth inning for a 3-2 score.
