Big inning rescues Bat Cats

MULVANE – Great Bend reliever Easton Young stayed red hot.
The Bat Cats rallied from a 4-1 deficit to beat the Mulvane Patriots 6-4 in Friday’s Sunflower Collegiate League baseball game.
Mulvane’s Willie Ward and Tanner Schuetz homered. Caleb Stull singled home Ward and Jack Mai in the fifth inning for a 4-1 Aviator lead.
Bat Cat Daunte Freeman hit his third homer in the fourth inning. Hunter Romero’s two-run homer scored Freeman in the sixth inning for a 4-3 score.
Mulvane handed the Bat Cats the victory with three unearned seventh-inning runs. Brenden Tauber scored on a passed ball. Collin Meinert and Freeman scored on a throwing error for a 6-4 lead.
Reliever Will Mossa (2-2) earned the victory with three innings followed by Easton Young, who retired the side I the ninth inning.
The Bat Cats (19-10) maintain a two-game lead on the Hutchinson Monarchs (16-11).
