Bat Cats routed by Newton Rebels

 NEWTON – Larned’s Isiah Perez homered and drove home three runs to spark the Newton Rebels past the Great Bend Bat Cats 13-2 in Wednesday’s Sunflower Collegiate League baseball game.

The Rebels (5-7 Sunflower) roughed up Bat Cats starter Tanner Howe for 11 earned runs. Luke Royle homered and drove home three runs. Enzo Bonventre drove home two runs. The Rebels scored eight runs in the second inning.

The Bat Cats (6-5 Sunflower) scored two runs. Daunte Freeman singled home Luke Repka after a first-inning double. Ryan Monson scored on Chase Gibson’s seventh-inning groundout. The Bats Cats return home Thursday against the Hutchinson Monarchs (8-4).
