Bat Cats win Jayhawk League series

Great Bend Bat Cat Hunter Romero delivered four hits in a 12-6 Jayhawk League baseball victory Saturday over the Haysville Aviators. Romero doubled in the first, singled in the third, singled in the seventh, and doubled in the eighth. The Bats entertain Haysville at 7 p.m. Sunday at Al Burns Field.

The Bat Cats (8-11) won their third series of the summer.

Romero’s double scored Mateo Zunica and Michael Sinks in the first inning. Benjamin Sems hit a sacrifice fly to score Peyton Barnes in the second inning. Corriagn Bartlett’s single scored Sinks and Brenner Fontenot’s single scored Bartlett in the third inning. Bartlett’s sacrifice fly scored Zunica in the fourth inning for a 6-2 lead.

Romero scored on a wild pitch and Ben Sems’ double scored Jordan Wilkerson and Barnes for a 9-2 lead after seven innings. Sinks scored on an error and Romero doubled home Bartlett and Pomeroy singled home Romero in the eighth inning.

Gyeongju Kim pitched seven innings and struck out six batters.
