LIBERAL – The Great Bend Bat Cats led Liberal 1-0. But the Liberal BeeJays scored the next 18 runs en route to a 19-4 Jayhawk League baseball victory Friday over the Bat Cats.

The Bats Cats (7-21, 12-22) led 1-0 when Austin McNicholas singled home Reece Johnson. The Bat Cats added three runs in the seventh inning. Reece Johnson singled home Thomas Alexander. McNicholas walked to force home McKay Baks. Hunter Romero’s sacrifice fly scored Brendan Madsen.

The Bat Cats pitchers walked eight batters and hit two batters. Four errors contributed to six unearned runs.

Liberal’s Brock Burton drove home five runs. Channy Ortiz drove home four runs. Boone Montgomery scored four runs with four hits and two RBIs. Clint Allen, Dane Simon and Sean Arnold each drove in two runs.
