Blazers take first
The fifth-grade Barton Blazers coached by Troy Griffith, Chris Ryan and Clint Brown placed first at the Hays City Little Shootout MAYB Basketball Tournament Saturday, defeating Gray County 35-7 and losing to the Hays Hawks 36-33 in pool play. The Blazers advanced to bracket play where they defeated Ellinwood 32-22, the Hays Tribe 21-16 and the Hays Hawks 36-9 in the championship game. The Blazers, who are 16-4 overall this season, will see action again this weekend at the Hays Big Brothers/Big Sisters MAYB Tournament.
