Bombers Baseball off to good start

Bombers Baseball, a local non-profit youth baseball organization began summer play on May 7th-8th with all three teams traveling to area tournaments.  
Bombers 8-Under Grey team captured 2nd place in the one day Hays Tournament on with an opening round loss to the Hays Jays 15-5, but rebounding with back-to-back victories over Larned #2, 10-0 and Larned #1 13-1. Bombers Grey team members include: Alejandro Alcala, Sebastian Bujanda, Rafael Chavez, Eli Contreras, Gavin Gilkison, JJ Grove, Trevin Maciel, Will Michaelis, Eli Somers, Trent Stuhlsatz, Tavon Stroup, and Brantley Vsetecka.
Bombers 8-under Silver captured the tournament title in Pratt by going 4-0. Bombers Silver won their pool by defeating the Pratt Athletic’s 18-1 and Stateline Shox 17-1. In bracket play they defeated the same Pratt Athletic’s 12-1 and then Pratt Bombers 16-1 for the tournament title. Bombers Silver team members include: Koehn Ribordy, Daxton Minton, Trey Milsap, Jaxon Wondra,  Ian Premer, Trenton Kern, Jacob Hall, Carter Brown, Hayden Kelly, Collin Saffa, Max Heilman, and Kale Kern.  
Bombers 9-under captured 4th place in the Pratt 10-under tournament. Playing several 10-under teams the Bombers went 2-0 in pool play by defeating StateLine Shox 11-7 and Pratt Bombers 13-7 on Saturday. After a rain delayed Sunday start, they defeated Pratt Batcats 9-8 before dropping an 11-1 decision to Wichita Brawlers in the semi-final and a 9-8 decision to Red Dirt Bandits for a 4th place finish. Bombers 9U Team Members include: Tatum Harper, Hunter Herrman, Owen Kaiser, Wyatt Michaelis, Slade Mohr, Ben Nicholson, Peyden Oelger, Carson Poe, Jace Schartz, Brody Schnoebelen, Ethan Somers, Eli Soupiset, and Carson Umphres.
Bombers 8U Silver Wins Wichita Tourney
The 8-U Great Bend Bombers Silver improved their season record to 11-0 by winning the Southwest Boys Club Wichita Tournament on May 14 and 15. The Bombers went 2-0 in pool play Saturday by defeating the Wichita Falcons 17-7 and Derby Dragons 11-10. On Sunday the Bombers opened the semi-finals with a 13-4 run-rule of Salina Spikes and then proceeded to run-rule Wichita Wolfpack 17-8 for the championship.   
Bombers 9-under also competed in the 10-under age division at Southwest Boys Club with a very difficult draw in pool play. Their first round game against the 9-under Wichita Wolfpack (who placed in top 3 in 8-under state last year) ended in a 13-3 loss and their second game of pool play was a 10-0 defeat against a very talented 10-under team from Derby. Next tournament action is Saturday in a one day tournament in Hays.
