Cardinal boys win Lyons track title
LYONS – Hoisington’s Brier Thompson swept the 110-meter hurdles (18.03) and 300-meter hurdles (45.59) and the Cardinals won the 400-meter relay (44.69) and 1,600-meter relay (3:53.28) to capture the boys title (162) at Tuesday’s Lyons Wheaton Track Invitational.
Hoisington’s other first-place winners were Deryk Yott, 400 (52.89); Karter Wolf, 800 (2:02.2); Kamden Tarlton, 1,600 (4:50.19) and Josiah Ball, pole vault (12-6).
Mason Alderdice, Kyler Czarnek, Taylen Morales and Thompson ran on the 400-meter relay. Grant Doan, Taylor Kaiser, Morales and Thompson competed on the 1,600-meter relay.
Larned’s Kaden Auble (11.48) won the 100 meters.
GIRLS DIVISION – Hoisington’s returning 3A state champion Shellamae Farmer cleared 11-9 for the top pole vault performance in Kansas.
Larned’s Kaylee Hagerman won the 200 (27.17) and long jump (16-5). Indian Cadee Upson swept the shot put (37-71/2) and discus (104-3). Teagan Walker won the 100 meters (13.26). Cara Herbert won the 100-meter hurdles (16.56).
Larned won the 400-meter relay (50.98) with Alexa Beltz, Akielah Collins, Kaylee Hagerman and Walker. The Indians won the 3,200-meter relay (17:57.0) with Jasmine Evers, Aysjah Yeager, Liz Herrera and Kaylyn Snodgrass.
