HESSTON – Hoisington’s Mason Haxton scored 23 points and dished out six assists as the Cardinals stunned Hesston 58-52 for an opening Central Kansas League basketball victory. The Cardinals (3-3, 1-0 CKL) sprinted to a 10-0 lead and never lost control. The Cardinals outscored Hesston 26-24 in a wild fourth quarter.
Drew Nicholson added 13 points for the Cardinals, who play at Nickerson Tuesday.
Hesston (6-2, 0-1 CKL) was paced by Nick Arnold with 10 points.
