HOISINGTON — Hoisington pitcher Taylor Boxberger set the tone with a 10-strikeout performance as the Cardinals dominated Halstead 14-0 and 13-2 in Tuesday's Central Kansas League doubleheader.

Hoisington (11-3, 10-2 CKL) remains one game behind CKL leader Haven (9-3, 9-1 CKL).

HOISINGTON 14, HALSTEAD 0 (G1) — Boxberger (7-3) yielded a single to Solle Werner in a solid 10-strikeout performance. Five Cardinals delivered a pair of RBIs.

Jenna Urban drove home Trinity Dolezal and Bailee Bachar stole home in the first inning. Shayla Kempke tripled home Kadance Urban and Skylar Eidson drove in Kempke for a 4-0 lead.

The Cardinals scored 10 third-inning runs. Kadence Urban forced home a run. Kempke's single drove in two runs. Skylar Eidson, Gracie Aylward and Dolezal followed with RBIs. Taylor Boxberger capped the inning with a two-run single.

HOISINGTON 13, HALSTEAD 2 (G2) — Hoisington pitcher Kassidy Nixon (4-0) earned the victory and drove home three runs with a double and triple. 

The Cardinals scored eight first-inning runs. Trinity Dolezal and Nixon drove home two runs. Destiny Hurley and Riley Brungardt added RBI singles for an 8-0 lead.

Kenzie Wolf stole home in the second inning and Brooke Steinert added an RBI for a 10-0 lead. Wolf, Nixon and Steinert delivered fourth-inning RBIs for a 13-2 victory.
