HOISINGTON – Hoisington pitcher Kassidy Nixon struck out 12 batters in a two-hitter to spark a sweep over Halstead 11-0 and 23-13 in Friday’s Central Kansas League softball doubleheader.

CARDINALS 11, HALSTEAD 0 (G1) –  Nixon yielded singles to Halstead’s Payton Divine and Jayden Logan.

The Cardinals (7-3, 7-3 CKL) scored six first-inning runs. Kadence Urban homered and doubled and drove home three runs. Gracie Aylward, Shaylah Kempke, Jordyn Boxberger and Addyson Ogle each drove home two runs.

CARDINALS 23, HALSTEAD 13 (G2) – Gracie Aylward drove home seven runs keyed by a double and triple. Nixon drove home three runs. The Cardinals scored nine runs in the fourth inning and six runs in the sixth frame.

Boxberger and Ava Henry each drove home two runs. Keeley Wolf, Urban, Kempke and Ogle each drove home a run.

Halstead’s Payton Divine drove home four runs. Emma Boese, Brittley Day and Abby Church each drove in two runs.
