HOISINGTON — Hoisington’s two-time state champion Wyatt Pedigo (9-0, 195), Cole Gilliland, (5-3, 220), Cade Boxberger (5-2, 285), Emily Lovett (3-1, 123), Tally Wikum (6-1, 136) and Bailey Sanders (5-0, 155) earned first-place finishes in the recent Hoisington Corner Classic wrestling tournament.
The No. 1 ranked Pedigo earned four pins in 33 seconds. Pedigo pinned Eureka’s Wyatt Ruest in six seconds for first place. Sanders earned five wins and pinned Great Bend’s Briana Garcia in 3:30 for first place. Wikum beat Liberal’s Ashlynd Winchell 6-1 for first place.
Lovett beat Liberal’s Shaylee Wheeler 6-2 for the title. Gilliland pinned Concordia’s Shelby Giersch in 3:09 for first place. Cade Boxberger pinned Concordia’s Dalton owen in 4:55 for the championship.
Finishing tournament runner-up were Hoisington’s Deryk Yott (8-4, 120), Evan Foltz (9-1, 132), Cole Steinert (7-3, 152) and Kiana Grandclair (6-1, 116).
Hoisington finished first with 148.5 points and Larned placed runner-up with 128 points.
