Cardinals stretch shutout streak

HOISINGTON – Hoisington pitcher Jordyn Boxberger (2-0) threw a no-hitter with 16 strikeouts to overpower Lyons 10-0 in Tuesday’s Central Kansas League softball doubleheader. Ellie Crawford (2-0) matched Boxberger’s feat with a 2-hit shutout in a 15-0 victory in the nightcap.

CARDINALS 10, LYONS 0 (G1) – Lyons batters put the ball in play three times with a pair of pop flies and one groundout against Boxberger.

Mollie Steiner doubled home Tricia Schremmer, Claire Crutcher and Boxberger for a 10-0 run-rule victory.  Schremmer drove home Marly Brewer and Paige Lamatsch to ignite a 5-run sixth inning.

The Cardinals scored their first five runs on two passed balls, two Lyons errors and a groundout.

CARDINALS 15, LYONS 0 (G2) – Hoisington’s Crawford struck out 10 batters.

Kashlin Beck drove home three runs as the Cardinals delivered five extra-base hits. Boxberger and Kylie Kempke each drove home two runs. Steiner had three hits and an RBI and Brynn Tarlton drove home a run in a 14-hit attack.
