ELLSWORTH — Hoisington Cardinal Bralen Thompson swept the 100 meters (12.13) and triple jump (42-41/2) to highlight performances at Tuesday's Ellsworth Track Invitational.

Hoisington's other first-place winners were Spencer Mintz, discus (141-9) and Josiah Ball, pole vault (12-0).

Runner-up finishers included Hoisington's Michael Hipp, 110-meter hurdles (18.85); and Central Plains Oiler Cole Lamatsch, 800 (2:08.65)

GIRLS DIVISION — Hoisington enjoyed a trio of first-place girls finishers. Shellamae Farmer swept the 100-meter hurdles (18.02) and pole vault (9-6). Macy Hanzlick won the 200 meters (28.36).

Runner-up finishers included Reese Merlau, 200 (29.43); Farmer, 300 hurdles (53.13); and Mallory Mooney, triple jump (32-01/4).

Central Plains Oiler Lauren Oeser placed runner-up in the javelin (107-1).

Larned splits baseball twin bill LARNED — Larned's baseball team rallied for a 12-1 second game victory over Lyons. The Lions won the opener. LYONS 5, LARNED 4 (G1)— Lyons' Zayn Zambo scored the game-winning run on Deacon Showalter's fifth-inning groundout. Lyons reliever Anthony "Ace" Ventura retired seven consecutive batters to earn a save. Logan Isaac scored on Ethan's Luck sacrifice fly in a 3-run third inning. Blake Smith and Ventura scored on Porter Anderson's single. David Meyers scored on a fifth-inning error for a 4-2 lead before Zambo scored a fifth run.
