Cardinals' Tarlton leads Hoisington runners

NESS CITY – Hoisington’s Kamden Tarlton (18:00.64) continues his strong running with a third-place medalist finish at Thursday’s Ness City Cross Country Invitational. Hoisington (98) finished fifth with Scott City (47) placing first. Kiowa County’s Sam Martinez (17:53.84) captured medalist honors.

Hoisington’s Kynlie Crowdis (22:32.04) earned sixth-medalist honors to continue a strong fall season. Otis-Bison’s Destiny Mitchell (23:00.0) placed 10thh. Golden Plains’ Emma Weiner (20:21.01) placed first. Holcomb (58) won the girls division. Hoisington (98) placed fourth.

Central Plains Oiler Joanna Donecker (28:52.5) won the girls junior varsity race.

Minton's shutout sparks sweep over Pratt

Koehn Ribordy earned a save in game two and led the offense for the Panthers (6-1) with seven runs batted home in the twin bill. PANTHERS 6, PRATT 0 (G1) — Minton (1-0) fashioned a 2-hitter in a masterful 78-pitch outing. Third baseman Trenton Kern turned a double-play on Madden Wilson's fifth-inning groundball. Carson Umphres opened the game with a leadoff homer. Two Pratt errors and a walk led to a 3-run third inning. Koehn Ribordy singled home Kern and Minton. Ribordy scored on Owen Kaiser's single for a 4-0 lead. Ribordy singled home Minton in the fifth inning. Ribordy scored on a seventh-inning wild pitch. PANTHERS 7, PRATT 5 (G2) — Ribordy stayed red hot with two singles and four runs batted home. Ribordy recorded seven outs to earn a save after Slade Mohr pitched 42/3 innings. Pratt led 4-1 after two innings. Owen Schmidt scored on Cresten Pore's first-inning single. Madden Wilson singled in Kameron Cox. Gatlin scored on Craft's single.
