“Kamden Tarlton has a special competitiveness that makes him special,” said Hoisington coach Lisa Thompson. “He works hard and is very self-motivated. Kamden comes into season healthy and ready to compete. He comes into this season with a PR of 16:29 at the Flint Hills course in Herington. He broke through onto the medal stand at state with a 20th place finish. His goals include closing in on the 16-minute 5k and return to state.”
The Cardinals placed third at the 3A regional (57) at Lake Barton last year. The Cardinals feature returning state qualifiers Brody Rossman (S 75th) and Kasey Andereck (95th).
“Our boys team is pretty young,” Thompson said. “We’re looking to compete and if the pieces fall, return to the state meet.”
Hoisington’s 3A state qualifier Tristin Compton placed 27th last year.
“Tristin Compton had a great freshman season and currently has her sights on the school record,” Thompson said. “She ‘s a strong runner and loves it. She plans to return to state and bring a teammate or two with her. She is joined by junior teammate Tianna Lutters who joined us last year. Tianna is a determined hard-worker. It’ll be fun to see what she does with a full season.”
