The Derby Twins pounded out 11 runs on 14 hits against the Great Bend Bat Cats for an 11-3 series-clinching baseball Jayhawk League baseball victory Thursday at Al Burns Field.
The Bat Cats (6-11) continue a seven-game homestand against the Haysville Aviators (5-12) Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Al Burns Field. The Bats Cats are 2-9 against the top four Jayhawk League teams.
DERBY TWINS 11, BAT CATS 3 — Great Bend native Brady Michel continued his hot streak with a base hit that drove in two Bat Cat runs. Barton Community College player Michael Sinks delivered three hits and Corrigan Bartlett added two hits. Third baseman Peyton Barnes, second baseman Sinks and first baseman Hunter Romero turned a second-inning double play.
Bartlett’s single drove home Sinks in the fifth inning. Michel’s sixth-inning single drove home Brooks Asher and Ben Sems. The Bat Cats had 10 hits, but stranded 10 baserunners. The Bat Cats batted 3-for-11 with runners in scoring position.
Derby scored runs in its first five innings. All nine Derby Twins delivered a base hit and eight Twins drove in runs. Tyler McNamara doubled three times. Tyler Myers homered.
