Eagles split twin bill

BELOIT – Ellinwood pitcher Cooper Hosman (2-1) threw a two-hit shutout with six strikeouts to spark a dominating 11-0 victory over Beloit in Monday’s second baseball game. Beloit’s Lance Lundine singled and doubled for the Trojans’ two hits.

Ellinwood (6-4) lost the opener to Beloit 10-4.

BELOIT 10, EAGLES 4 (G1) – Ellinwood scored four runs without an RBI. Chase Gibson, Drake Hosman and Dylan Gantz scored on passed balls. Drake Hosman scored on a wild pitch. Ellinwood’s Campbell Coleman doubled twice and Cooper Hosman singled twice.

Ellinwood’s pitchers walked seven batters and four Beloit runners scored on errors. Jerek Rexroat drove home two runs. Lance Lundine and Quinn Eilert drove in runs.

EAGLES 11, BELOIT 0 (G2) – Ellinwood executed a perfect double play to preserve a shutout. Left fielder Tristan Keith caught Maddix Waters’ fly ball, relayed to third baseman Cooper Gunn and catcher Gantz tagged Joe Rexroat out at home for a game-ending double play.

Cooper Hosman delivered a 2-run single. Chase Gibson scored on Bryan Jaske’s sacrifice fly.

Gantz and Coleman scored on bases-loaded walks. Coleman scored twice on errors. Cooper Gunn scored on an error. Gibson scored on a passed ball.
