Eagles’ Heinz is runner-up

SALINA – Ellinwood’s two-time 2-1A state runner-up Drew Heinz fired 1-under-par 71 to tie Salina Sacred Heart’s Michael Matteuci (71) at Monday’s Salina Sacred Heart Golf Invitational. Matteuci won the sudden-death playoff for medalist honors. 

Matteuci captured the 2023 Class 2-1A state championship and Heinz placed runner-up. Ellinwood’s Mason Moore (73) placed third. Salina Sacred Heart (297) placed first and Ellinwood (322) finished runner-up, also counting Braden Lewis (89) and Luke Heinz (89).
