Macksville halfback Hector Gomez scored five touchdowns and quarterback Kendall Grippin fired three touchdown passes to spark a 48-0 8-man football victory over St. John.
Gomez opened the scoring on a 50-yard dash. He added touchdown runs of 1 and 5 yards and caught 5-yard and 24-yard scoring passes from Grippin. Sophomore Ariel Marquez delivered a 1-yard touchdown run and 4-yard scoring strike from Grippin.
Macksville’s defense was equally dominant with a 3-quarter shutout triggered by Gomez’s 5-yard touchdown to end the ballgame.

OTIS – La Crosse quarterback Caden Morgan completed three touchdown passes and rushed for a fourth score to spark the Leopards past Otis-Bison 26-0 in Friday's opening football game.
Morgan threw touchdown passes to Conner Barriger for 35 yards, Gage Burk for 15 yards and John Doombos for a 5-yard score. Morgan threw for 86 yards and rushed for 80 yards and a rushing touchdown.
Tyron Steinert and Chase Decker each had five tackles. Doombos recovered a fumble.

Receiver Jimi Oleson caught five passes for 112 yards and three touchdowns. Tailback Cody Knoche rushed for 160 yards and scored a touchdown. Brody Kerschenske returned a kickoff for a touchdown.
Alexis Garcia recovered two fumbles and had four tackles and an assist. Axel Ortiz had two sacks and 10 tackles. Kerschenske contributed three sacks.

SYRACUSE – Ellinwood halfback Rylan Wirtz scored three rushing touchdowns to spark a dominating 42-0 opening football victory over Syracuse. Wirtz scored on touchdown runs of 3, 8 and 10 yards.
Logan Panning and Bryan Jaske added rushing touchdowns for the Eagles (1-0). Quarterback Drew Heinz worked his usual magic with 14-yard touchdown pass to Cooper Hosman.
Cooper Hosman sparked a brilliant defensive effort with a 10-yard interception return and 40-yard interception return to set up scores. Campbell Coleman recovered a fumble. The Eagles outscored Syracuse 22-0 in the fourth quarter.
The Eagles dominated the line of scrimmage on offense and defense with a physical style.

Quarterback Clayton Hammeke threw three touchdown passes and shifty Davin Hamby rushed for two scores and added a receiving touchdown as the Tigers roared past Moscow 47-20 in Friday’s football opener.
Leighton Munk caught a pair of touchdown passes from Hammeke, who added a touchdown strike to Hamby. Gardner opened with two rushing touchdowns. Hammeke threw a trio of TD passes. Hamby caught a TD pass from Gardner then scored the final touchdown on a 60-yard run.
