Ellinwood boys lose 2A substate opener

PLAINVILLE 63, ELLINWOOD 45  Ellinwood converted eight 3-pointers, but Plainville's Ari Patel scored 26 points to spark a 63-45 victory over the Eagles in the 2A Smith Center basketball substate.

Eagle Layton Wirtz scored 19 points with five 3-pointers and Luke Heinz chipped in 13 points. Plainville held Ellinwood's leading scorer Drake Hosman to five points with lockdown defense.
