Eagles win 2A regional title
HILL CITY – Ellinwood’s two-time state runner-up Drew Heinz shot 1-under-par 69 to earn medalist honors at Prairie Trails Golf Course. The Eagles (308) won the team title by 10 strokes over Hill City (318) to qualify for the 2A state tournament May 20-21 at Dodge City’s Mariah Hills Golf Course.
Ellinwood also counted scores by sixth-place Luke Heinz (78); eighth-place Mason Moore (79) and 21st-place Braden Lewis (90).

CHENEY – Larned Indian Talon Reynolds shot 6-over-par 78 at the Cheney regional to qualify for the 3A state golf tournament May 20-21 at Emporia. Larned (390) finished sixth by also counting scores by 24th Brennon Stalhecker (101), 25th Gavin Collins (104) and 26th Gage Donecker (107).
Wichita Collegiate’s Lunden Esterlin shot 2-under-par 69 to earn medalist honors. Collegiate (312) edged Cheney (319) for the team title.

HALSTEAD – St. John’s Brody Vieux shot 92 to earn an individual state berth at the 1A Halstead golf regional at Wedgewood Golf Course. Vieux will compete at the 1A state golf tournament May 20-21 at Hesston Golf Course.
Cael Kooiman (80) earned medalist honors and led Hutchinson Central Christian (343) to the regional team title.
