ELLINWOOD 24, STANTON COUNTY 6

ELLINWOOD – Ellinwood quarterback Drew Heinz did an impression of Chiefs quarterback Pat Mahomes with a scrambling 34-yard touchdown pass to Cooper Hosman on the last play of the first half to ignite a 24-6 non-league football victory over Johnson-Stanton County. Alek Brack caught a 28-yard reception prior to Heinz’s miraculous throw to Hosman after he pump faked twice.

Ellinwood football is 3-0 for the first time since 1988.

Eagle Logan Panning scored on 1- and 16-yard touchdown runs. Heinz ran a quarterback draw to set up Panning’s 1-yard score. Stanton County’s Jhovanni Guillen caught a 16-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Alvin Solis.

MACKSVILLE — Kinsley tailback Conner Chamberlain scored five touchdowns as the Coyotes roared past Macksville 48-0 in Friday’s Central Prairie League football game.

Chamberlain scored on 5, 7, 10 and 41 yards. Woodrow Lancaster scored on 37-yard run and Cason Lemuz scored on a 35-yard run.

Kinsley’s Lancaster, Chamberlain and Anthony Meza intercepted passes.

HUTCHINSON — Stafford quarterback Jacob Simmons scored on a 27-yard run and threw for 91 yards and a 30-yard touchdown to Brody Kerschenske. The Trojans lost 46-12 to Hutchinson Central Christian in 8-man football Friday.

Stafford tailback Cody Knoche rushed for 101 yards. Stafford (1-2) was led by Kerschenke with eight tackles and two assists. Axel Ortiz contributed five tackles and five assists.
