HAYS – The Hays Thomas More Prep softball team swept past Ellinwood 20-0 and 20-4 in Tuesday’s doubleheader.

TMP 20, ELLINWOOD 0 (G1) — Pitcher Madison Augustine threw a one-hit shutout with six strikeouts. Ellinwood’s Carlee Rowan singled.

The Monarchs scored 10 runs in the first and second innings. Jaci VonLintel doubled and drove in six runs. VonLintel and Madison Augustine each had three hits. 

Ellinwood contributed seven errors, which led to 12 unearned runs.

TMP 20, ELLINWOOD 4 (G2) — Halle Dreiling hit an inside-the-park grand slam to highlight a 13-run third inning. She finished with three hits and five RBIs. Augustine delivered three hits. Jessica Herrman drove in two runs. Augustine struck out six batters.

Ellinwood (2-4) shocked the Monarchs to lead 2-0. Jauzalynn Blanton scored on an error. Gabby Jacobs scored on Lauren Knop’s first-inning single. Kadie Bailey scored on a second-inning passed ball for a 3-1 lead.

The Monarchs responded with a six-run second inning and a 13-run third inning. The Eagles contributed 11 errors, which led to 16 unearned runs.
