MEADE GIRLS 63, ELLINWOOD 39 — Ellinwood freshman Bennett Jacobs delivered a vintage 15-point effort with five 3-pointers in a 63-39 substate setback to Meade Monday. Jacobs knocked down 4 of 5 first-half 3-pointers. Reece Stickney added seven points.
Ellinwood scored 16 points with 6 of 11 shooting and zero turnovers in the second quarter. The Eagles (5-16) return five of their top seven players.
Meade (14-8) countered with eight 3-pointers and 23 points by Carlie Martin and 17 points by Sayler Stapleton. Martin converted a 3-pointer to end the first quarter and a 3-point play to end the second quarter. The Buffaloes broke the game open with four straight 3-point plays for a 48-26 lead.
