Great Bend’s seventh-grade girls protected home court with a basketball sweep of Dodge City Middle School.  

After trailing 6-4, the Panthers Cassie Ellegood scored followed by Darcy Feist’s field goal. The Panthers proved unstoppable on the night as Kylie McCormick dominated the boards along with 11 points for the night. Other scorers included  Jillian Reimer (11), Kara Feist (4), Darcy Feist (4), Cassie Ellegood (2), and Payge Cain (1).

“Kylie McCormick and Jillian Reimer really stepped up, helping their team out,” said Great Bend coach Connie Claussen. “Kara Feist’s assists were a vital part of our success tonight. We’ll continue working on hitting the boards but I am pleased with the team.”

GREAT BEND B TEAM — After a 12-12 halftime tie, Great Bend outscored Dodge City 11-4 in the third quarter behind McKayla Smith and Payge Cain each scoring four points for a 27-20 basketball victory.

Scorers for the game were Payge Cain (9), Gabby Flores (8), McKayla Smith (6) and Makenzie LaViolette (4). LaViolette and Smith ignited the first-quarter scoring and Cain and Flores converted scores in the second period.
