GBMS 7th girls win WAC title


HAYS — The Great Bend Middle School 7th-grade girls captured the Western Athletic cross country title Saturday. Teegan Guerra earned third medalist honors followed by 8th Jimena Montes, 9th Greidys Moreno, 10th Teah King and 11th Camryn Moos, all with season-best times. The Panthers earned first place four times.

Of the 23 runners, 18 ran season-best times with 11 placing in the top 10. 

“The athletes ran very well, as was evident in 18 personal best finishes,” said GBMS coach Carley Wells. “I’m proud of the way our runners performed this year. I hope for great success in the future.”

The GBMS 8th-grade girls placed runnerup. Sienna Smith placed runner-up and Addyson Bruce finished 7th.

The GBMS 7th-grade boys placed runner-up. 4th Omar Razo, 7th Juan Arias and 9th Dustin Fugitt earned top 10 finishes.

The GBMS 8th-grade boys placed runner-up. Tavon Stroup paced the GBMS 8th-grade boys in 3rd place followed by Brantley Vsetecka 6th.
