 GBMS completes perfect season

GARDEN CITY -- The Great Bend Middle School 7th-grade volleyball team completed a perfect 26-0 season by sweeping through the Western Athletic Middle School tournament. The Panthers took charge of the tournament and kept their skills sharp to finish the season as MSWAC Champions with a perfect 26-0 record.

“I’m so thankful I had the privilege of coaching them through this dream season,” said GBMS volleyball coach Jessica Nairn. “This year was incredible – watching the girls come together after tryouts. They came out to win every time they stepped on the court. They took care of business and earned their spot at the top.”

The 7th-grade A team featured Alyvia Batchman, Kya Behr, Remmi Burkes, Alex Mayers, Meredith Mazouch, Camdyn Post, Lydia Schaub, and Kynli Shull and manager Sophia Elsen.

The GBMS B team worked hard this year and really improved their skills. B team featured Olivia Boone, Kyra Lewis, Kourtnee Leech, Sophie Cale, Madelynn Siefkes, Hayley Suchy, Araceli Aguilera, Shatarah Netwon, Chayla Prendergast, Katelyn Roddey, and Gabbie Tomlin.

“I’m proud of their hard work every day,” said coach Kaylee Unruh. “They did not advance to bracket play. However, they took all their opponents to three sets.”
