Great Bend’s 7th-grade champions
Great Bend Middle School volleyball coach Brittany Leathers led the 7th-grade B volleyball team to an 18-0 record, outscoring opponents 866 points to 476 points.
“I’ve never had a group of girls that was more fun, hard-working and supporting teammates,” Leathers said. “I’m so proud of them for working so hard every day. I had a few girls tell me their goal was to go undefeated. It was a big goal, but they could do it.”
The team had to overcome some adveristy, but came through.
“They adapted to all the challenges that were thrown at them,” she said. “We had girls injured or in quarantine and they always fought through. They improved throughout the season and that’s what I’m excited about. Going 18-0 this season was icing on the cake and these girls definitely deserved this WAC Championship. I’m so proud of them. The future is bright in the Great Bend volleyball program!”
