GBMS 7th graders sweep Liberal teams

LIBERAL — The Great Bend Middle School seventh-grade girls A basketball team (4-1) traveled to Liberal and returned home with a two-game sweep. 

GBMS A vs. EISENHOWER — Kara Feist scored seven points to lead a balanced Great Bend offense to a 23-13 victory over Liberal Eisenhower. Other scorers were Darcy Feist (6), Kylie McCormick (4), Myra Kurth (2), Jillian Reimer (2), Clarise Snapp (2) and DeShawnna Bryant (1).

Great Bend led 3-0 after one quarter and 9-6 at halftime.  The Panthers outscored Eisenhower 14-7 after halftime.

GBMS A vs. SEYMOUR ROGERS — Jillian Reimer led the way with six points for a 16-4 victory over Liberal Seymour Rogers 16-4. Other scorers are Cassie Ellegood (4), Kara Feist (3), Darcy Feist (2) and Kylie McCormick (1).

Reimer scored four first-half points and the Panthers used aggressive defense for an 11-1 halftime lead. 

GBMS B TEAM — The Great Bend Middle School B team split games, winning 28-18 over Liberal Seymour Rogers and losing 32-9 to Liberal Eisenhower.

The Panthers rallied against Seymour Rogers for a 28-18 victory. The Panthers showed patience and took better shots. The Panthers led 8-4 at halftime and outscored Seymour Rogers 20-14 after halftime. Payge Cain led the way with 10 points and McKenzie LaViolette added eight points. Other scorers were Lea Nokes (6), McKayla Smith (2) and Gabby Flores (2).

LaViolette and Cain went each scored six points after halftime.

The B team (2-2) struggled running plays and blocking out against Eisenhower. Payge Cain led the Panthers with five points.  Mackenzie LaViolette added four points.
