GBMS football wins opener 40-0
The Great Bend Middle School 8th-grade football team shut out Garden City Ken Henderson 40-0 at Memorial Stadium.
Quarterback Daxton Minton completed three touchdown passes and a 2-point conversion for 79 yards. Hayden Kelly caught two touchdown passes and gained 41 yards. Jacob Hall had two catches for 38 yards, one TD and one conversion.
Minton gained 39 yards rushing for one touchdown and a 2-point conversion. Ian Premer gained 39 yards. Courtney Bryant Jr. gained 14 yards and scored a touchdown and a 2-pointer.
“Our boys played hard and executed fairly well for our first game,” said GBMS coach Jason Duvall. “I was pleased with our effort. It was good to get a number of players in the game.”
The Panthers travel to Dodge City Thursday.
