Pitcher D.J. Sharabi threw eight innings and drove in two runs to spark the Great Bend Boom (8-4) to an 8-1 baseball victory over the Topeka Train Robbers Thursday at Al Burns Field. Sharabi (4-0, 2.07 ERA) struck out seven batters.
The Boom return home Friday night for a rematch with the Train Robbers.
Darryl Baca singled home Logan Clifton in the first inning. Baca’s groundout scored Tevin Padgett in the third inning. Sharabi singled home Dominique Lincoln and Reece Bell after moved up on a fourth inning stolen base for a 4-0 lead.
In the eighth, Matt Rembielak singled home a run. Logan Trowbridge and Baca forced home runs on a hit by pitch and a walk. Clifton scored on a passed ball for an 8-1 lead.
Great Bend plays at the Topeka Train Robbers Saturday and Sunday.
