MANHATTAN – Great Bend’s Kelby Titus shot 10-over par 154 (76-78) to miss the 64-player bracket for the 2020 Kansas Amateur Golf Championship at Colbert Hills Golf Course. Titus missed a playoff for match play by one stroke.

Titus shot 76 (38-38) in Tuesday’s opening round. Titus birdied Nos. 9 and 10 to help offset three bogeys and a triple bogey at No. 3.

Titus fired a 78 (35-43) in Wednesday’s second round. He birdied Nos. 1, 6, 16 and 18. But he bogeyed No. 8 and 10 and crashed with double bogeys at Nos. 11, 12, 13 and 14 to finish 6-over-par.

Emporia’s Colton Massey lost 2 and 1 against Jake Bay of Shattuck, Okla. Bay built a 3-up lead after 13 holes, but Massey birdied Nos. 15 and 16 to climb within 1-down. Bay parred the 16th hole to move 2-up.

Massey, a former Larned Indian golfer, made match play with a 150 total (78-72). Massey carded two bogeys and two double bogeys in his opening round. Massey birdied Nos. 1, 6 and 15 and bogeyed Nos. 5, 8 and 10 to fashion an even-par 72.
