HAYS — Great Bend’s Aidan Flores placed third in the 200 freestyle (2:18.32) to highlight the Panthers’ effort at the Hays Swimming Invitational. The Panthers brought a partial team of 10 mostly first-year swimmers. The varsity swimmers compete at Wichita Heights Saturday.

The Panthers’ 400-free relay placed fifth (4:40.93) with Jose Reyes, Rodrigo Berbil, Alan Reyes and Flores competing.

Great Bend coach Steve Beaumont said the swimmers have made vast improvement.

“This group of swimmers has worked tremendously hard and has made some huge strides in a very short time,” said Great Bend coach Steve Beaumont. “They’ve turned into solid swimmers. There is real potential in this group. I’m very proud of these young men and their effort.”
