HAYS – The Hays Larks completed winning three of four games with a 6-1 Jayhawk League baseball victory over the Great Bend Bat Cats Thursday. The Bat Cats are 4-14 against the top four Jayhawk League teams.
The Bat Cats (14-16) scored their run on Jordan Wilkerson’s seventh-inning home run that broke up Matt Fish’s no-hitter. The Bats entertain Jayhawk leader Liberal (22-8) starting at 7 p.m. Friday at Al Burns Field. Liberal is a perennial Jayhawk League powerhouse.
Bat Cats starter Drew Repp yielded three runs in six innings with two strikeouts.
Trey Ochoa’s single drove home Nick Jones and Jacob Boston in the fifth inning to snap a scoreless tie. Colin Simpson scored on Trevor Boone’s sacrifice fly in the sixth inning. Ochoa scored on Jon Soberanes’ seventh-inning single. Cimpson doubled home Soberanes and Boone singled home Simpson for a 6-1 lead.
