HOISINGTON – Pratt’s all-state back Travis Theis scored four touchdowns to spark the Greenbacks past Hoisington 34-0 in Friday’s football opener. It marked the first time the Cardinals have been shut out in five seasons under Hoisington coach Zac Baird.

Theis rushed for 204 yards on 12 carries while taking snaps at quarterback. Theis scored on touchdown runs of 79, 31, 15 and 32 yards. Bryce Winsor added a 26-yard touchdown. 

Hoisington back Zavier Robinson rushed for 42 yards, but had no second-half carries. Hoisington quarterback Mason Haxton was sidelined with a season-ending injury. Hoisington’s standout back Wyatt Pedigo missed the game with an injury. The Cardinals committed two turnovers. Hoisington plays Nickerson (0-1) next week.

RANSOM – All-state tailback Kade Scott scored four touchdowns and rushed for 173 yards to spark Pawnee Heights past Ransom-Western Plains in Friday’s 6-man football opener. 

Scott scored of runs of 25, 55 and 70 yards and caught a 30-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Trace Baker. Russell Baier, Adam Hands and Shawn Peterson also scored touchdowns. Baker completed two touchdown passes and Fabian Flores added a passing touchdown.

The Tigers (1-0) play Weskan (1-0) Sept. 7 in a rematch of last year’s 6-man state semifinal game by the Tigers 53-47.

VICTORIA – Victoria quarterback Cooper Windholz scored two touchdowns and passed for a score to spark the Knights past Otis-Bison 28-14.

Victoria (1-0) converted 55- and 67-yard scoring drives capped by Windholz’s touchown run and a 16-yard TD pass om fourth down to Drayden Karlin. Windholz’s 1-run touchdown led to a 22-0 lead.

The Cougars rallied on a 39-yard touchdown by Anton Foust and a 42-yard touchdown run by Seth Hoopingarner. Tyler Knoles scored the Knights’ final touchdown after Caden Oberle caught a 13-yard pass.

Foust led the Cougars with 84 yards rushing and Hoopingarner added 68 yards rushing. Victoria’s Layton Riedel intercepted two passes.

CENTRAL PLAINS 30, NESS CITY 14

NESS CITY – Central Plains scored two fourth-quarter touchdowns to escape with a hard-fought 30-14 Central Prairie League football victory over Ness City.

The Oilers broke a 14-14 tie when Lawson Oeser scored on a 5-yard run followed by a 2-point conversion by Myles Menges. Jerred Bieberle iced the victory on a 19-yard touchdown pass from Menges. Alex Hickel converted the 2-point run.

Oeser and Menges converted rushing touchdowns for the Oilers’ first two scores. Menges passed for 162 yards. Hickel gained 85 yards rushing to pace a 162-yard ground game.

Oilers Menges, Oeser and Devin Ryan intercepted passes by Ness City quarterback Angel Guzman. Grant Heldstab led the Oilers’ defense with 14 tackles, 10 unassisted. Hickel contributed 10 tackles.  The Oilers (1-0) play Victoria (1-0) at home Sept. 7.

Ness City quarterback Angel Guzman threw a touchdown pass and added a touchdown run.

ELLINWOOD – LaCrosse quarterback Hunter Morgan threw for two scores and scored two touchdowns to spark the Leopard past Ellinwood 48-0 in Friday’s football opener.

Ellinwood (0-1) made a return to 11-man football after four years in 8-man football. Ellinwood quarterback Kyler Doll threw for 99 yards. David Hammeke had 49 yards receiving and Ryan Niles rushed for 35 yards.

LaCrosse rushed for 335 yards and added 107 yards passing. Morgan scored on a punt return and a rushing score. Blake Herman caught two touchdown passes. Tailback Keldon Day rushed for 131 yards and two touchdowns. Colby Stull intercepted two passes and scored on a 22-yard interception.

MACKSVILLE 74, KINSLEY 26

KINSLEY – Macksville quarterback Kody Mead threw six touchdown passes and scored on a touchdown run in the Mustangs’ 74-26 Central Prairie League football victory over Kinsley.

Mead completed 14 passes for 228 yards. Karson Waters caught four touchdown passes and had 109 yards receiving. Tyler Bissell had two receiving touchdowns. Michael Seward scored twice and Skyler Evans and Harley Blaske scored touchdowns. 

“We came out and executed our offense from the start,” said Macksville coach Chet Skinner. “We scored on the first play and kept attacking. We put up 70-plus points and worked through different fronts and stunts.”

Harley Blaske intercepted three passes and returned one for a touchdown. Caleb Lickiss and Kody Mead recovered fumbles. Mead had seven tackles.

“Defensively, we played aggressive with our front five,” Skinner said. “We were proud of our team. We look forward to Ness City next week.”

NORWICH — Stafford Trojan quarterback Justice Manning scored four rushing touchdowns and threw two touchdown passes in a 46-0 football victory over Norwich.

Manning rushed for 177 yards. He completed touchdown passes to Ethan Hildebrand and Nicholas Gift. Caleb Hildebrand scored a touchdown and had nine tackles.
