Hoisington baseball sweeps Russell

RUSSELL –For the second consecutive doubleheader, Hoisington's baseball team rallied for a victory with one out left. Hoisington rallied for a 6-3 victory and swept Russell 11-3 Friday night. Quentin Boxberger and Derek Boxberger earned the pitching wins. Hoisington improves to an 11-5 record.

HOISINGTON 6, RUSSELL 3 (G1) – Hoisington was down to its final out when five consecutive batters reached base. Bransen Schulte singled and Cole Steinert walked. Jacob Specht's single scored Schulte for a 3-3 tie. Derek Boxberger singled home Steinert for a 4-3 lead. Quentin Boxberger's single scored Specht and Derek Boxberger for a shocking 6-3 comeback victory.

Hoisington's Trey Byers doubled home Braxton Donovan for a 1-0 lead. Russell's Rhett Pospichal scored on an error for a 1-1 tie. Russell's B. Drake scored on an error and Pospichal scored on B. Ford's sacrifice fly for a 3-1 lead. Hoisington's Jerred Bieberle doubled in Quentin Boxberger for a 3-2 score.

HOISINGTON 6, RUSSELL 3 (G1) – Hoisington's brother act worked perfectly when Derek Boxberger earned the victory in the nightcap.  Quentin Boxberger drove home three runs and Bransen Schulte and Steinert each drove home two runs.

Russell led 3-0 when A. Roth, Pospichal and K. Rome drove home runs. Specht scored on Quentin Boxberger's third-inning groundout. Hoisington started a six-run fourth inning on Hanzlick's RBI single that scored Bieberle. Bransen Schulte's single scored Donovan and Byers. Hanzlick scored on Derek Boxberger's single. Quentin Boxberger's single scored Bransen Schulte and Specht for a 7-3 lead.

Bieberle scored on Byers' single in a four-run fifth inning. Steinert singled home Byers and Holt Hanzlick. Bransen Schulte scored on a wild pitch for an 11-3 lead.
