Hoisington boys win Central Kansas cross country

PRATT — Hoisington medalist Kamden Tarlton (17:08.15) and eighth-place medalist Eli Lewis (18:31.0) led the Cardinals to Thursday's Central Kansas League cross country championship. Hoisington (57) edged Smoky Valley (65) for the team title.

Tarlton won the CKL title for the first time after placing fourth and ninth. He placed 22nd at 3A state cross country last year. The Cardinals will compete at the 3A Lake Barton regional Oct. 21 after placing fourth at regionals last year.

The Cardinals also counted 12thh-place Michael Hipp, 19:06.28; 14th-place Alex Mater, 19:08.64; and 22nd-place Kasey Andereck, 19:57.97, in the team scoring. Hoisington's Nathan Norvell (20:40.33) captured the junior varsity race.

GIRLS DIVISION — Smoky Valley (41) won the girls division over Hillsboro (50). Hesston's Ashley Lehman (19:33.89) won medalist honors over teammate Reese Quinn (20:52.77).

Hoisington finished with a trio of top 15 runners — 11th-place Tristin Compton, 23:33.85; 13th-place Tianna Lutters, 23:57.79; and 15th-place Vada Kaiser, 24:21.86.
