Cardinals to compete
HUTCHINSON — Hoisington 2A all-stater Holt Hanzlick and Hoisington coach Zach Baird will compete in the 2021 Kansas Shrine Bowl Saturday at Gowans Stadium. Kickoff is 7 p.m. Saturday for the 48th Kansas Shrine Bowl.
Hanzlick rushed for 1,114 yards and 14 touchdowns for 2A state runner-up Hoisington. Hanzlick scored two touchdowns with 55 receiving yards. Hanzlick led the Cardinals’ defense with 80 tackles (6.7 tpg) and 11 tackles for loss.
The Cardinals beat Ellis 47-0, Cimarron )(forfeit), Garden Plain 28-14 and Beloit 26-0 before lsing 27-20 to Rossville in the 2A state championship.
The West leads the East 29-17 with one tie.
The Kansas Shrine Bowl has raised more than $2 million for Shriners Hospitals for Children.
