ELLSWORTH — Hoisington's No. 2 singles Claire Crutcher (3-1) defeated Smoky Valley's Madelyn Mauk 8-7 (7-5) in a tiebreaker to place third at Thursday's Ellsworth Tennis Tournament. 

Hoisington's No. 1 singles Reese Merlau (2-2) placed fourth with an 8-1 loss to Ellsworth's Karli Haase. No. 1 doubles Lauren Higgins/Hailey Petersilie (1-3) placed seventh with an 8-3 victory over Victoria's Piper Nowlin/Jameson Toon. No. 2 doubles Carly Delzeit/Piper Jacobs (1-3) placed sixth with an 9-0 loss to Ellsworth's Emma Salyers/Bekah Vague.

Ellsworth (60) won the team title ahead of Sterling (53). The Cardinals (29) finished fifth.
