HOISINGTON — Hoisington's Macy Hanzlick dominated in back-to-back games with 17 points as the Cardinals swept past Pratt 53-31 to capture the school's first Hoisington Winter Jam basketball championship. Hanzlick and Jordyn Boxberger, who scored 11 points, earned all-tournament honors. Kylee Hahn added nine points.
The Cardinals outscored the Greenbacks 23-2 for a 28-14 halftime lead after trailing 12-5 with lockdown defense. Pratt (9-4) had no luck after all-tournament Gabby Gatlin departed after an injury.
"It was so exciting to win it in front of the home crowd," said Hoisington coach Mandy Mason. "That was something we had our eyes on. I'm proud of our kids. Our defense carried us. They executed so well. We put on a show."
Hanzlick executed all phases of her game.
"Macy is a great kid who plays smart," Mason said.

HOISINGTON — Ellinwood's Brittany Simpson scored 27 points as the Eagles outscored Otis-Bison 57-35 for seventh place in the Hoisington Winter Jam. Otis-Bison's Macie Wiltse and Halee Morrison each scored 10 points.
