ELLSWORTH — The Hoisington Middle School track team competed in Ellsworth on Tuesday.
The seventh-grade girls took first place by a 32-point margin with 125. The seventh-grade boys, as well as the eighth-grade girls and boys took second place.
The seventh-grade girls’ top finishers were Rylie Koester, who took first place in the 1,600-meter and 800 run as well as second place in the hurdles.
Kayleigh Bitter took second in the 100 dash.
The girls’ 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams claimed first place.
In field events, Elly Hammond claimed the top distance in the long jump.
Hoisington had three girls in the top four in the shot put with Besa Bwalya (second place), Tiffany Schneider (third) and Ronnie Rheames (fourth).
The seventh-grade boys, who finished five points out of first place, were led by the 4x100 and 4x400 relays, which both took first place.
Cameron Richter took first place in the 100 dash and second place in the 200 dash.
Jacob Warnken finished in first place in both the 800 and 1,600 runs.
The eighth-grade girls were led by Mary Williams, who took first place in the 3,200 run.
Alexis Finger finished in second place in the 1,600 run. Mary Williams claimed second place in the 800 run.
Sydney Crawford led Hoisington’s eighth-grade girls in field events, taking second place in the discus and fourth place in the shot put.
The eighth-grade boys had first-place finishes from Nolan McCurry, who took first place in the long jump as well as second place in both the 100 and 400 dashes.
Seth Owen, who won the shot put and took second place in the discus.
K.C. Stephens took away a second-place finish in the hurdles.
Ethan Woodcock took second place in the 800 run.
Hoisington’s next meet will be Friday as they travel to Larned for its league meet.
