Area players take part in Barton summer league

The month-long girls’ basketball summer league at Barton Community College came to a close on Wednesday night with a final round of games.
There were a total of 13 teams, including high school and middle school-aged teams, who competed in the league in making preparations for the upcoming school year.
Great Bend had three teams — Great Bend I, Great Bend II and Great Bend III.
The Great Bend I team was composed of prospective varsity basketball players from Great Bend High School.
Other teams included: Central Plains High School and Central Plains Middle School; Russell High School and Russell Middle School; Ellinwood High School and Ellinwood Middle School; St. John High School I and St. John II; Hoisington High School; and a middle school team comprised of Great Bend and Otis-Bison.
The league was coordinated by first-year Barton women’s head coach Carter Kruger.
