SALINA – The Great Bend Braves led Junction City 3-0, but the Braves lost a lead for the third time at the Salina Grand Slam baseball tournament. The Braves (11-12) lost to Junction City 11-4 in Saturday’s 17-and-under quarterfinals.
The Braves scored three first-inning runs. Brad Beck drove home Sage Koelsch with a groundout. Jade Poe scored on a wild pitch. Paco Hernandez singled home Joseph Moeder for a 3-0 lead.
Junction City climbed within 3-2 after two innings. Joseph Moeder scored on a fifth-inning wild pitch for a 4-2 lead.
But Junction City swung the momentum in a four-run fifth inning. Junction City put together four hits, two walks and a hit batter for a 6-4 lead. Junction City capped a five-run sixth inning with a three run homer.
