LARNED—The Kingman Eagles roared past the Larned Indians 40-10 to secure a spot in the 3A state playoffs.

Kingman led 37-3 at halftime as Logan DeMond’s 37-yard field provided Larned’s score. Larned (0-8, 0-5 District) plays at Russell (2-6) to end the regular season next week.

“Our inexperience really showed tonight,” said Larned coach Tad Remy. “We got ambushed and shell-shocked and by the time we recovered it was too late. We’re really young, especially at some key positions but the kids keep fighting. I was proud of our second-half effort.”

Brock Skelton led the Indians with 54 yards rushing and scored on a 9-yard pass. Jacob Smith rushed for 52 yards. Quarterback Dillan Smith completed 9-19 passes for 119 yards. Brayden Rupp had two receptions for 56 yards.

Andrew Reed scored on a 3-yard run as the Eagles’ Wishbone offense marched downfield for a 7-0 lead.

Kingman’s Riley Krehbiel intercepted a Dillan Smith pass and returned it 17 yards for a 14-0 lead.

The Indians lost two fumbles and had three first-half turnovers.

Kingman scored a safety for a 16-0 lead.

Kingman back Hayden Albright scored back-to-back touchdowns on 10- and 9-yard scores. John Molitor’s 18-yard score made it 37-0.

Larned’s Logan DeMond kicked a 37-yard field goal on the final play of the half for a 37-3 score.

The second half was a big improvement.

Kingman’s Franco kicked a 31-yard field goal.

Larned’s Brock Skelton caught a 9-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Dillan Smith for the 40-10 final score.

Kingman’s run-oriented offense chalked up 285 yards rushing. Molitor gained 106 yards, Krehbiel 64, and Reed 54.
