PLAINVILLE — The Kinsley/Macksville pitching staff threw solidly for four innings against Plainville for a 12-2 lead Monday.
The Coyotes pitching staff eventually imploded in a baseball doubleheader setback to Plainville 25-22 and 24-1. The Coyotes were outscored 46-11 in the final five innings.
Kinsley's pitchers walked 41 batters, hit nine batters and threw 24 wild pitches.
PLAINVILLE 25, KINSLEY 22 (G1) — Kinsley led 12-2 after 31/2 innings keyed by a 13-strikeout pitching performance. Woodrow Lancaster led the 22-run attack with a homer, triple, double, five runs batted home and five runs scored.
Kaleb Granger drove home four runs with a trio of hits. Joshua Stuckey was close behind with a home run, four runs scored and three runs batted home.
Joey Preito drove in three runs. Gabriel Mullin drove in two runs.
But it wasn't enough when the Cardinals scored eight runs in the fifth inning and 14 runs in the sixth inning. Kinsley yielded 20 walks, hit eight batters and three eight wild pitches.
PLAINVILLE 24, KINSLEY 1 (G2) — Cade Chamberlain drove home Stuckey for the Coyotes' first-inning run.
Kinsley's pitchers yielded 21 walks, threw 16 wild pitches and hit a trio of batters. The Cardinals scored 24 runs on four hits.
